Win 8 64-bit 6Gb of memory installed, will only allow 1Gb to be used for gaming

My laptop has windows 8 with 6Gb of memory installed. My games are only allowing 1Gb of memory access. It is with all games, not just one or two. Help?

Yes, it was reporting 6Gb until about a week ago

No I mean are you sure the games aren't allowing 1 gigabyte of video memory?

It's possible, but like I said, it was reading full memory until last week. It's happening on all of my games now, not just one or two of them

Sorry I haven't been able to post a while. My ISP shut my internet off for a week. Where are you getting these memory readings from?
