Does this mobo work with this cpu

Solution

Yea, it does. Like the guy above posted, you'll want one that can OC. I built my ol'ladys computer with a FX-6300 / GA-970a-ud3. Using a hyper 212 evo cooler, it's running at 4.2 no problem. I could get it to 4.4 + easily with that cpu / mobo. The 6300 really isn't that power hungry, and runs cool when oc'ed.

This mobo would work great with that CPU.

a 970 should work fine for the fx 6300...

a 970 should work fine for the fx 6300. You'd want a 990 more for the 8 core fx chips.

Get this cooler for it. The included cooler with the fx 6300 is junk.

The FX 6300 isn't considered a high FX chip. It uses a lot less power, and produces a lot less heat than the 8 core.

I own a FX 6300 / GA-970-ud3, and a FX 8320 / 990FXA-UD5. I've got fair experience dealing with these chips/mobo.

I think the guy is going for a budget build, considering that, the 212 evo is more than enough for his needs (he didn't even say he was oc'ing though he should). Also, for a budget build using a FX-6300, the mobo I posted will be more than enough.

He should be able to easily get 4.4 - 4.5 out of the chip using my suggested mobo/cooler without breaking the bank.

My ol'ladys FX6300 @ 4.2, with a 212 evo doesn't break 35c while gaming. I could easily give it more voltage for a higher OC, and not worry about heat. From what I've seen, the sweet spot for these chips start at 4.4+. All she does is play ddo, which plays extremely smooth, so, I saw no reason to go past 4.2 for her.

Ah, I was thinking FX 6300 for some reason.

Yea, you don't want a 970 board with a FX 8350. It will end up throttling, and being a pain in the butt.

If you go with a 8 core AMD cpu, be ready to buy a proper board.

*I was more impressed with my ol'ladys FX 6300, than I was my FX 8320.

*Why are you getting a 8350, when a i5 isn't that much more?
