Difference between these routers and which is better?

I don't know everything there is to know about routers but i am looking to buy a good one.
I have seen a lot of people recommending the AC66U, AC68U or the N66U by asus.
I like asus so i think i will go with this manufacturer.

It mostly depends if you can use 802.11ac. If you do not have nics that can do it then you will get no benefit. Most 802.11ac is for people that need high speed data transfer within the house...most something like backups. Even basic wireless can exceed the internet bandwidth most people can get.

The difference between the ac66 and the ac68 I think is mostly that the ac68 meets the final standard for 802.11ac that came out last november. Since the ac66 was out before the standard was final it may not meet all the specs. Of course asus is very quite on that topic so its hard to say.

Software wise since asus releases the source code I think all three routers are built from exactly the same code base so most user type features will be identical. You can also load dd-wrt on these routers if you want even more advanced features.

....the n66u and n66r are the same device..evil rumor is the n66r was built so bestbuy could not be forced to price match
