Hello,

So I recently bought a new adapter that plugs into HDMI and outputs vga. So I plugged it into HDMI plugged in my VGA monitor into it and it is just a black screen. This is the converter I bought. http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/item/103567054/Mini_HDMI_to_VGA_Audio_Output_HD_Conversion_Cable_Adapter_Connector.html

I was told that it works and the buyer actually sent me a video of him pluging it into a VGA monitor and it did work. But every time I try it I get a black screen.

I have sapphire radeon 6670 graphics card with 3 outputs, vga, dvi and hdmi. I also have 2 monitors and I tried both of them, one is 1366x768 and another is 1920x1080. What can I do to get it working? Thanks in advance.

Those low end HDMI/VGA adapters are notoriously problematic. They seem to work on some monitors/gfx cards, and not on others. The HDMI (digital) output has no analog component for VGA. So the 'adapter' has to generate the analog signal from a digital via a D/A video converter. And that model appears to have no power supply, so it has to get its power from the HDMI device itself.

Does your MB have integrated video? Some MBs allow the integrated to function even if there is a discrete card in the PCIex16 slot.

Hey, thanks for the answer. I am not actually sure but there is a VGA input above my usbs so I would guess there is one. Also I tested out the converter on my other pc and the pc booted just fine and it all worked through HDMI. But here is what is happening on my PC right now. For example I get the VGA into VGA pc boots fine, i put in the hdmi just the converter without anything attached to it, and the monitor goes off. So everytime something is inside hdmi the screen turns black.

Yeah, it sounds like the adapter isn't playing nice with the card. See if your on-board VGA output on the MB is still enabled when there is a card in the PCIex16 slot. Hook up the other VGA monitor to it and see if it has a display when you boot. If not, boot to windows and see if turning on the 2nd monitor by right-clicking the desktop and choosing screen resolution makes any difference.

I tried pluggin another monitor into the onboard on and nothing happened. Now what i did was plugin my second monitor into vga and the other monitor into hdmi, but this time when I did it both monitors didn't go black, just the one in the hdmi. Before when i had one in vga and plugged the other into hdmi both would go black. They are both in now and i tried, detect and it doesnt work.

Actually I was wrong the another monitor wasn't working i just hadn't plugged in the hdmi fully. Also I am pretty sure it actually is working as i tested it. Buying another monitor isn't really a solution for me at this time.
