Hello guys. I am currently on a Windows 8 Laptop, and I am building a desktop that will have Windows 7. so is there a way to convert most of my files to the desktop? or is it possible to transfer Win 8 to the desktop and have 7 on the laptop? i really have no clue.
Thanks in advance,

Electonic

You are just wanting to have your files?

Just put it on a flash drive and transfer it. Could even use dropbox, google drive etc to keep them syncronized.

If you want to copy programs that is a different beast. Most programs can not just be simply copied even from the same exact Windows version.

If you have a gigbit router or gigabit switch just hook them both up to network and transfer that way.

It will be faster then usb 2.0, and should pretty much top out the read speed of your laptop hard drive.

Connected through the router will still be faster.
And you can directly connect USB-USB.

Your 'files' don't care about Windows 7 or 8. Your programs will need to be installed.

And you can't move that laptop Windows 8 to the new desktop for a variety of reasons.
