It started a day ago an i don't know if it is a virus or hardware issue.A few minutes into doing anything that out puts sound such as a video or playing a game the sound starts to go slow motion. it becomes choppy and almost a static noise. When i play games it also brings down my fps. as for videos they slow down. I've also noticed that if i ignore it for a while the sound mutes itself. when i try to unmute it i hear a second of noise then it mutes itself again. i"ve speedfan and my cpu is at 50c so i know its not that. and i bought McAfee to see if it would fix the problem but nothing has changed. i even experience an issue when i type to fast. letters don't show up and spaces take their place . please help i don't know what else to do. Also i have windows 7

That is totally weird! It's like your PC is possessed. Try running a malware scan... a FULL scan: https://www.malwarebytes.org/

Since McAfee didn't solve anything, you may want to uninstall it. It alone has been troublesome for some folks. I continue to use Microsoft Securities Essentials for virus and Malwarebytes for malware. Weren't you running any virus pgm before you just now went out and got McAfee?

I would first run a FULL virus scan after updating to the latest signatures. Then run CCleaner to see if there are any registry errors causing the problem.

If all comes back clear, try disabling the sound in BIOS, disconnect the audio cable, and run w/o sound for awhile. You won't be able to test the sound problems obviously, but if the KB issue goes away, it could very well be a failing sound chip.

Ran both a full virus scan and registry cleanup. And its still there. im going to add a few pieces to the mystery. First will be i play a game called league of legends. Now when i play LOL it normally has its own volume mixer. But now it has been disappearing. In place what i see is my google chrome volume mixer on mute but you can see there is active sound. When i try to unmute it there is a small piece of sound from a random video i do not have opened. i tryed it just now and it was a news report on middle eastern news. i have not been on any news website nor do i know where that sound is coming from. after a second it mutes again and i have to repetitively unmute the google chrome volume mixer to hear the sound again. i have also noticed that a text document labled "test" is on my desktop and it was not on it before. in the text document its reads "jhMAAAMAAAABADCZuG/bo5mdVWW/E3DAweBGGVWDRQqceDrQ1S+XJTDsLWHIFyQZGuR96EP+Oiai

I'm starting to think this is less of a audio issue and more of a virus McAfee is not detecting. please help

You're welcome. I'm relieved to hear it solved the issue. I paid the ~$25 for the full version of Malwarebytes and keep it running along with MSE on all my PCs. Most virus pgms don't catch malware.
