So I just finished building my rig for gaming and the first game I wanted to test out was Starcraft 2.

My specs : i5 4670k (3.4GHz)
Gigabyte GTX 770 4GB
G Skill Ripjaws 8GB
Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD4H
Samsung SSD 128 GB (mainly for OS and various programs)
WD Caviar Black 2TB 7200 RPM

When I was running Starcraft 2 on Ultra, the reported GPU temp was 80C on Speccy. I'm pretty sure it shouldn't get THAT hot but not completely sure.

Then after alt-tabbing a few times, my system crashed, had something to do system32 according to WhoCrashed.

Hrm. not sure what's going on with the crash, but, 80C is normal full load temp for the 780 Ti (My Titan likes to hover there as well)

If Gigabyte didn't offer any software to manage it (They may have, check the CD it came with), try downloading some from EVGA Or ASUS and see if they work. You can set a more aggressive fan profile to bring the temps down at the cost of some extra fan noise.

Sadly, my case does not offer any optical drive support. It's the NZXT H440.

How would I go about messing with the fan controls? Noise doesn't mean anything to me really.

Also, one issue (which is a case issue) is that my SSD with my OS on it is under the GPU. The fans of the GPU are on the bottom of the card. Will that affect the SSD temps?

Sorry for the double post - It shouldn't too horribly, my SSD doesn't really run that hot, but who knows. Is there a reason you can't move it anywhere else? (Edit: You have like a quadzillion drive bays in that bad boy. Why is he on the ground?? Lol)

Check Gigabyte's site. They may have software you can download.

That utility may have some fan speed controls.

You're right, for some reason I was thinking he had an EVGA card. That is really high then, especially considering that Starcraft 2 is much more cpu than gpu intensive.

The SSD bays are both on the bottom, under the gpu. But I do have a bunch of remaining 3.5 HDD bays open so I can put it there, but there won't be anything holding it down.

Also, temporarily, my PC is on the carpet, and the carpet is somewhat fluffy. (Think of a porn studio shag carpet). I'm waiting till my desk comes in and I'm just running it on the carpet temporarily just to make sure everything it placed properly and to install and update things. I was running SC2 as a test run.

you should have screw holes on the bottom of the HDD trays like here that you can screw into the bottom of the Samsung SSD to mount them on the trays. However, I've seen screenshots of some other builds, and other people have installed them on the bottom no problem, so they should be fine.

He can't turn the PSU any other way - it's in a shroud, so if he faces it up, he'll be blowing hot air into a little box and sending it nowhere.
