Hello I have a HP 6730b laptop with an 8GB SDHC card and I can not get auto play to work. The computer is running Windows 7 pro, I am trying to get auto play to work for adobe light room 5.3 64 bit. I was able to get a usb drive with photos to work just fine, I even put the photos in the same directory as they are on the SD card.

Here is everything I have tried:
Reformatted SD card to FAT32
Reset autoplay setting in control panel to default
Updates SD card drivers
Updated BIOS
Tested with photos on a usb stick which worked.
Tried reg setting for NoDriveTypeAutoRun and I set it to 0
Tried setting in GP
Check that Shell HW detector is running and set to auto

I also added reg keys
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] ”NoActiveDesktop”=dword:00000001
”NoActiveDesktopChanges”=dword:00000001
”ForceActiveDesktopOn”=dword:00000000
”EnableShellExecuteHooks”=dword:00000001
”NoDriveTypeAutoRun”=dword:00000000

reg file 2:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] ”NoDriveTypeAutoRun”=dword:00000000

The only thing I am thinking is because of the age of the laptop it is reading the SDHC card differently. Does anyone have any ideas?

Are you able to view the card contents by manually clicking on the drive in Windows Explorer, or is no such drive visible in Explorer?

If the latter, you may need to re-install the driver for the media-card reader, you can get it from HP's website:
http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/support.html

If the UK is not appropriate for your location, select the appropriate country first (bottom-left of page).

I had exactly that problem on my wife's PB laptop last week. Autoplay worked for everything except media cards.
Didn't even show up as a drive in Explorer.
Reader not listed in Device Manager either.
So I installed it's driver - - -problem fixed.

I can see the SD card just fine in my computer, and it shows up in removable devices. I can navigate the card just fine and copy and past to and from the card. I had also just tried a standard 1GB SD card and that did not open autorun as well.
