I have an ATT issued 2-wire gateway. It is a 2701HG-B

My son just bought a Toshiba laptop. The dsl/wifi was really slow so we decided to reset it. I pushed the button on the back and must have held it too long. I reset the unit to defaults. We now have a different name for for the wifi and different password. My son's laptop and windows phone are both Windows 8 and we can't figure out how to reconnect. The laptop will work when plugged in to the patch cord in the back of the DSL unit. But can't connect to the wifi. It was connected for 3 days before all the changes happened. We hit forget connection and it now ask for the new password, But won't connect. I was assuming it is either the DSL connection name or the firewall. But I am having no luck and a 15 year old is very upset. Any ideas what else I could try.
PS we also just updated the driver on his network card hoping that would help. No luck.

Solution
Just so anyone that has a similar problem can try it. My issue ended up being my setting was WPA-shared. When I changed it to WPA-2 I was finally able to connect to the laptop. Then re-connect all the other computer items again.

Thanks
Are you SURE you typed in correct passoword? It reverts to whatever the default password is for the router. This is usually printed on the face or the back of most modern routers and is case sensitive.

To setup that router open a browser (while wired to it) and type "192.168.1.254" and then hit enter. You should now be prompted to set up the router again can choose wpa2 encryption and your own password.

I am sure I have the right password. It worked on my other computer and ipad and Roku. Just not the Windows 8 stuff. It also seems to accept the password and attempt to connect. If you type another password it doesn't go past. I can try re-setting up the router again. But I want to make sure nobody has something different to try first. I am pretty sure that is not the issue. I will try it if nobody has anything else to try. Thanks for the response.
