Hi all I'm hoping I can get some help in properly troubleshooting my WD My Passport 1TB HDD. I've had it for about a year now and the other day it just stopped connecting properly to my computer. When I connect it the light comes on and blinks and I can hear/feel the drive spinning.
I tried two computers as well as my WD Digital media player which is usually what this is connected to, but none of them showed the drive. It has not suffered any physical damage that I am aware of due to dropping or anything like that. Also when I connect it to my computer I get a sound from the computer that it is connected, but it does not show up as a drive to access.
I'm hoping I could avoid changing the control board via hdd-parts.com, because they say in my case it's a crap shoot, but I'm hoping I may be able to get some solid advice here before buying a new pcb.
