Processor: Intel Core I7 3820
Motherboard: Asus P9x79
Graphics Card: Asus Gtx 770 2gb oc
Windows 7 64 bit
Power supply: Corsair HX 1050W
4x4gb ram sticks

Basically my computer read the memory at 16 gb for about a year and now it has switched to only reading 8 gb which is starting to really irritate me. Ran memtest and it passed and failed prime95 stress tests as memory usage reaches 8gb when testing or playing graphically demanding games. Is it possibly the dram voltage or are the ram sticks faulty and I need to purchase new ones? I have also removed ram sticks and put them in other slots without any success.

More about : ram originally system reads 8gb causing crashes gaming

One of your sticks might have a malfunctioning memory chip or sector on it causing the rest of it to malfunction. Or potentially (lets not hope for the worst here) your mb memory slot is dying so try them in another slot. See if the MB recognizes your 16gb of memory and if that fixes it.. If not than you have a bad stick my man.
I think and it sounds to me like its the first of the 2.

I have been running clean with Gskill for about 3 years now.. They have solid memory and its fast.. I bought it for speed and stability off of another reliable source and it didn't disappoint.
Little pricey but hey my mem for this much was $240 around that time so your getting a steal
Plus also Corsair makes mean memory.
