Raid 1 GA-78LMT-USB3 4 TB drive

I recently purchased two 4 TB drives to use in a home hyper-v host. However, when I attempt to set up raid in my Gigabyte: GA-78LMT-USB3, I see each drive's capacity as 1801.76 GB instead of the full 4 TB each drive should have. Drive's are ST4000DM000-1F2168.

I'm kind of at a loss as to why the RAID controller is only seeing each drive as 2 TB instead of 4 TB.

Simply put, motherboards running bios (or uefi in bios mode) cannot handle drives bigger than 2TB, they will simply recognise them as a maximum of 2TB. They need to be running uefi in uefi mode to handle drives bigger than 2TB.

I would suggest a 3rd party SATA hard drive controller. The only thing I cannot help you with is finding one. The controllers I am using for my 3TB+ drives are high end raid controllers.

Pauls3743, that's kind of what I thought. The board doesn't support UEFI, but there is an E-EFI mode (Extended EFI or something special from Gigabyte, I set the board to use that mode) and I can see 4 TB once Windows is installed. It's only in the built-in raid controller that i can't see the rest.
