Okay so me and my buddy just built his first new computer and we're running into some issues. Here are the system specs:

AMD FX 6350
Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0
4GB Kingston HyperX RAM
MSI R7 260X Graphics card
Cooler Master GX-450W

HDD and DVD Drive are irrelevant

When we plug in the computer to power, we receive a series of LED blinks from the CPU LED and Memory LED. It goes in the following order:

CPU (fast), Mem (stays on for half second), CPU, Mem, CPU
The case and CPU fan turn on as well.

Then the green Mobo power light comes and stays on without any other lights staying on on the board. The fans are off as well after the LEDs stop their blink.

No beep codes are heard. Speaker is plugged in and functional (tested by pulling out ram and got beep code for that)

After this when you try to push the power button nothing happens. Also note that the series of blinks on the board happen before the power button is pressed - it happens as soon as the board gets the power plugged in.

Any insight is helpful. I think it is a bad PSU or possibly MOBO, but I can't find anything online to help troubleshoot it any further.

Thanks!!!

Make sure all Power connectors are fully plugged in, including the CPU supplemental power plug. ( usually an 8 pin connector next to the CPU.)

Thank you for the very quick replies!

bugunner - We verified that the 8-pin CPU power, 24-pin Mobo power, and 6-pin PCI-Express power are all in. RAM is also certainly seated properly in the correct slot. We also verified that the jumper cables for the case are all in the proper position (although there's no real way to test it since all of the buttons are unresponsive).

Calvin7 - As for the graphics, we read that on the box and that is our next attempted fix. However, we removed the card completely from the computer and tried. Upon plugging it in we got the same series of LED blinks and then nothing.

Figured it out the other night. Turns out the case was sent from the factory with the power switch pressed in. We fixed the case and adjusted the power button to give it more clearance. I knew it was peculiar that the computer seemed to start as soon as power was plugged in.

All fixed and enjoying the new computer.
