I have a home network with 3 PCs and 1 I Pad connected wirelessly. I would simply want to know which device is consuming bandwidth. Is there a basic network bandwidth monitoring tool I can use to do this? I have a limited bandwidth per month; I know the activities on each connected device; I simply need to know which device/activity is consuming the most bandwidth.

That's not a simple answer. Most routers would be able to give you daily/weekly/monthly usage, but not for each item (depending on the grade of the router). If you want that sort of level you're looking to custom routers (pc/server running firewall software such as ClearOS/CentOS/pfSense). Even then you might not get the device bandwidth summary you're looking for.
