I have here a question. Current cpu is i3-2120 and motherboard is asus p8z77 m pro with an LGA 1155 socket.
Im planning to upgrade it to the processors above. But the i5 4670k one requires LGA 1150 mobo.
Btw im buying for Gaming purpose

3570k and 4670k has almost same price but Ill be needing to add bout 150$ for a new mobo

I know that Ivy Bridge is better than Haswell in termsbof overclocking. But at stock, the 4670k is better.

So my question is. Is 4670k FAR better than 3570k? Will the additional money for the motherboard worth the upgrade?

Solution
Not far better for an extra $150. If you can overclock on your current motherboard, you should get a 3570K and stick with your current setup and save the $150. There's not a huge performance difference between Ivy Bridge and Haswell, and with X97 and X99 launching later this year, if you're looking to do a bigger upgrade later, that would be the time.

Haswell is better than ivy-bridge.
It can depend on the application, as for sometimes you will see 5-10%, which will mostlikely be the one you will seen the most.

Software carefully developed for haswell can benefit much more running on haswell than IB.

I wont recommend buying a new mobo, so stick with the 3570k.

I've personally went for the 2700K, since Sandy Bridge overcloks a LOT better than the more recent Intel CPUs, but if you're not an OC'er, go for the one that costs least overall (keeping your current motherboard).
