Alright, a few days ago I bought a EVGA GeForce GTX 650 to use in my Optiplex 960 Mini Tower. Yesterday it came and to my dismay, it didn't fit......

Needless to say, I gotta send it back and find a card that will fit this thing. And that's why I'm here. Is there a graphics card that will fit in this? Here are some pics of the slots without the card in it.

And if it helps, I plan on using it for Youtubeing and Gaming. So whatever help I can get will be worth it.

More about : optiplex 960 graphics card

Oh, and sorry for the huge pictures. I wasn't expecting them to come out so big.

Follow up question: Would I be able to put in a low profile graphics card into a Mini Tower? I just really need to get a graphics card for this thing.

What is your budget, you have BTX case, so single slot card only with little headache.

THIS POST APPLICABLE TO MT (MINI TOWER) FORM FACTOR ONLY.

Unfortunately no card that is more than 7.5 inches long or 2 slots wide will PHYSICALLY FIT inside the case - it was found that only single bracket video card can fit due to BTX MOBO, where card internals facing upward towards PC internals, not ATX, where dual card design is blocking another PCI slot by facing downward.
If you prefer the card with beefier fan, then the length of the card must not exceed 7.5 inches, otherwise only "skinny" single bracket, single slot cards can physically fit.

Pictures below will prove my point.

View shows no room for dual bracket

Single bracket only, or you have to cut dual bracket in half

This is the other way to show my point

Here you can clearly see only single place for the bracket

Visual explanation

7.5 inches explained, also shown "obstacles"

This is the picture of actual "skinny" single slot video card (not sure which model)- perfect, "glove" fit.

Those are 2 old cards which will fit, however they are about to be phase out

Skinny, flimsier in terms of construction, completely single slot XFX 7750 http://www.amazon.com/XFX-DisplayPort-PCI-Express-FX775...

A bit beefier cooler, not as skinny, more durable in construction PowerColor AX7750 http://www.amazon.com/PowerColor-AX7750-1GBD5-DH-Video-...

However I see that you tried to use GTX650, so I found GTX 750 which must fit according to above guide

ASUS GTX750-PHOC-1GD5 GeForce GTX 750 1GB GDDR5 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Complete specs are found here https://www.asus.com/us/Graphics_Cards/GTX750PHOC1GD5/#...

Dimensions 7.28 " x 4.53 " x 1.41 " Inch

It doesn't say anything about power supply, so you should be fine.

Anything else I can help you with?

If you indeed will purchase and install this card, please come back and report your story, so others can benefit as well.

Hmm...Well first off, my budget is at the very least $120. Maybe more since people owe me.

Second, I did manage to find a single bracket version of the GTX 650, but only as a low-profile card. So hypothetically, could I fit this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...) into the case?

I have only one reservation to both GTX cards, yours and my choices - look at the first picture (all pictures are good), your dual card is covering one black transistor, did card sitted properly in the slot, or card cooler was pushing down on the transistor? This is only reservation, otherwise it fit perfectly.

has anyone found a solution for this yet? Does the ASUS GTX750-PHOC-1GD5 GeForce GTX 750 1GB GDDR5 fit in this computer? Please answer because I'm in the same situation. Thanks.

Has anyone tried the ASUS GTX750-PHOC-1GD5 card in the Optiplex 745 yet? I'm willing to order and try it myself if not. Tired of dealing with this computer's crappy design... I've got:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700
RAM: 8GB PC2-6400 (Kingston)
Video: Nvidia Geforce 7800 GT 256MB
HDD: WD 320GB SATA
DVDRW: Some TSST thing

The only thing left to do is video on this. That 750 GTX would be the last thing. (It's so rare to find single slot FAST cards)

The 7800 GT is almost able to make TF2 playable on typical settings. Not good enough and lacks HDMI if you wish to make this a living room PC. I read somewhere on NewEgg (can't find it anymore) that there was a slight modification to the Dell fan shroud, but I never got an answer as to what was involved.

I assume the same thing goes for the Optiplex 960. So I purchased the ASUS GTX750-PHOC-1GD5 for a decent price. I will soon report back if it fits without issues. If it fits WITH issues, I will explain in full detail and with pictures what those issues were. ..Aaaaand I'll also report back if it just won't work at all. If that's the case, I will demonstrate how to make it work.

Just get a dremel, that's what i did, works fine, cut a second slot and you have to cut into the ps2 ports, leaving them more useless then they already were. it's a pain in the ass but worth it.

Well, the ASUS Geforce GTX 750 came in. It went in the Optiplex 745 MT with not really any effort at all! I'm quite surprised. The cooler on the GPU just barely makes contact with the caps on the motherboard, as well as the fan shroud on the CPU. Almost like they made it with this case in mind or something.
