graphics card boot up problem msi radeon r9 270

i had some trouble installing my video card's drivers automatically but did get it to install eventually manually by going through
device manager and locating the .inf file. (for some reason the r9 270 wasn't listed but other models were eg. r9 260, r9 290. I ended up installing it under the 'r9 200 series' driver.

1. Why can't i find my specific model?
2. i'm getting screen tear on the boot up menu (cant see safe mode etc) then windows loads fine. What could be causing this?
