I have been fighting with this for 4 days now. New Windows 2008 set-up. DNS, AD, DHCP, Routing and Remote Access.

Server can connected to internet. I can see Address Leases that correspond to the devices in my home. From my desktop i can remote to server. So LAN connection and DHCP is working. I have no internet connection from any other device besides the server.

ipconfg /all below

My other devices iPad, iPad Mini, Desktop have no connection to internet. Getting IP address assigned but no internet connection.

A server is a end device it is not a router it will not forward traffic between ethernet ports.

You are going to be best off using a real router to do this.

If you insist on using your server to do this you will have to run ICS or something similar on the server. You will be somewhat restricted to what you can run on the machine because you if you put load on device it will impact users using it as a router.

Thanks for the answer. Question I had the same exact set-up for my Windows 2003 SBS. No issues at all. What has changed or what is the difference? So if I have to get a router how does the 2nd NIC and switch interact?

In my 2003 SBS.i used on NIC connected to the modem for internet access the 2nd NIC was apply IP addresses to all devices in the network, my house. Was a way to centralize all components in the basement as well as control access to the network. Have a combination of wireless and wired devices.

Anybody have an answer. Can i use my switch or do I need a router. Switch is connected to the 2nd NIC with a static ip address. It is supplying IP addresses to the clients but not allowing internet access. Do I need a gateway address. The DNS is the address is the DHCP server address.
