Hello guys,
I have decided the following build for my pc which I will use for gaming and editing (photoshop, after effects, premiere pro cs6). Here is my rig :

Monitor - Dell S2240L
Processor - i5 4570
GPU - msi gtx 750 ti
MoBo - msi b85m g43
PSU - Corsair cx430w
RAM - g skill 8gb
Cabinet - Huntkey A502
OS - Windows 8.1

Some doubts to clear :
1) I am on a strict budget (I am from India and dollar and INR differ)
2) I am happy to game at high or highest settings (thats why i chose 750ti)
3) The pc will be used for light to midweight editing
4) I dont want to oc.

My Questions :
1) Is this rig good?
2) How many years can i expect it to last (I guess 2-3)

Thanks in advance to all those who comment.

Solution
For a budget build with a lower-power graphics card, the i3 will be perfect.

4GB of RAM will be perfectly fine for most games.

I would go with the Antec VP-450w if you can, it's a much higher quality power supply. If not, the 430 will be ok for your setup :)

All looks good, you should get pretty good performance :)
Your parts are reasonable and compatible.
How long they serve you will be determined by your future needs which are probably unknowable.

You will also need a hard drive.

I know you are on a budget, but I really recommend using a 120gb ssd at least for the os.

The 750ti is a budget video card, do not expect it to run all games on high settings.
If you are sticking with that video card, I would agree that you don't need the i5 CPU, the FX6300 will save you some money, that you can use for a slightly faster video card and/or a hard drive.

I would also try to get Windows 7 instead of 8, 8 is a much different interface and is clumsy to use unless you are a very basic user and have a touch screen. From personal experience, I don't know a single person that is even neutral towards Windows 8, everyone I know does not like it and any of my friends and even people I talked to that got computers with Windows 8 wish they did not.

A 750ti will run games like battlefield 4 pretty decent. My friend has a 650ti boost and runs on high. Expect to run at least on medium settings =).

About windows, for the user interface aspect I wished I still had W7. Although, for the gaming aspect W8 is excellent. You may know that it increases your FPS on pretty much every game =).

Hello HiTechObsessed ,

If you are from India, which gpu do you think is better than 750ti at 12.5k?

Also I would like to ask you if you are doubly sure the fx 6300 can do what you said since all the recent benchmarks show the i5 to be a ton times better. Moreover I am not interested in overclocking. However if the fx is the way to go will I be better to chose fx 8320 or fx 8350? Currently no games use 6/8 cores. Even at gdc 2014, they showcased only 4 core improvement. The am3+ sockets have pcie 2.0 x16 which old by some standards. I know that the 2.0 doesnt make much difference now but I think that it might change in near future. Also I have seen a tons of benchmarks and the benchmarks show the i5 is lot better(not an intel fan) and also i5 has a much lower power consumption enabling me to go for cheaper power supply and skip a cooler.

Thanking in advance.

Hello ,

From the benchmarks I have seen at Toms and Anandtech and others and they all show that the gtx 750ti is a good option for ultra settings at some games and high for almost all games(I have no issues with 40-60fps).

I also have used win 8.1 and I am fine with it. It also features dx 11.2 and the interface is good enough for me.

Do you have some other views? Please share.

Thanks.

If you're OK with using Win 8, by all means go for it.

750 Ti is certainly a good video card, but you will find that some games will have a bit of a stutter at high settings, should still be playable just not perfectly smooth which may bother you.

With that card, the FX6300 is plenty, you don't need to get a higher AMD chip or the i5 since you are looking to keep it a budget build. If you are OK with the extra money for the i5, that is a better CPU than the 6300 and will help with games that rely on the CPU more.

Do you think it will be a good idea to go with i3 4340?

There are bonuses for either the i3 or the FX 6300 http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/354/AMD_FX-Series_FX-6300_vs_Intel_Core_i3_i3-4340.html, either or those are OK for a lower end gaming system. For those two, I'd go with cost. The i5 would be best overall for CPU hungry games or media encoding.

The 6300 would be better than the i3 for CPU hungry programs or games, and is pretty decent. For budget concerns, the value of the 6300 is MUCH better than what you'll get out of an i5. If you can spend the extra money for the i5, I would use that and put it into the GPU, which will give you much better gaming than upgrading the CPU will give.

Thanks for the reply.

I am thinking of buying the i3 4130 over the fx 6300 because the performance of i3 seems to be a lot better than fx.
I saw some benchmarks (Austin Evans, NeoSeeker, Toms, etc) and the i3 with ht was performing similar to the i5 4670k. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXPK9doyMLg)

What do you guys think?

My current plan :

i3 4130
zotac gtx 750 ti
asus h81m k
transcend 8gb ram
corsair cx430

Is it good for a budget build?

I changed the motherboard because I saw a budget pc build at Toms (Q1 2014 750$ PC) and they recommended asus h81m k.

Also I would like to know whether a 4gb ram will good enough for high setting 1080p gaming? thanks.
