550 Watt PSU enough to power Powercolor R9 290?

Hi there.

I am looking to upgrade my GPU, and I am very interested in the Powercolor R9 290 non-referece graphics card.

http://

Now, the product specification says it requires 750 watt Power supply as a minimum, which seems awfully high to me. I currently have a Seasonic G 550 Watt supply, and would much rather not have to upgrade it.

Do you think my supply will support this card? Or is that 750 watt recommendation most likely true?

Thank you.

depends on the cpu + rest of the pc. if the psu has the needed pci ex power connectors you can probably trust that it can power it.

edit: they recommend 750W because of all the dodgy psu power makers, which brand 500W and below psu-s as higher power. the seasonic is a good brand and usually don't sink to this level.

Thanks, guys. Sorry, I forgot to post my specs:
CPU: 4670k
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87-X UD3H
RAM: 8 Gigs 1600 MHz DDR3 Kingston Hyper-X
PSU:Seasonic G 550 Watt
Hard drive: 128Gb OCZ Vertex 4

Would this still be pushing the power supply to the max? I haven't OC'd the processor yet but do plan on it. Somewhere around 4.1-4.2 GHz.
