Only getting half a screen on desktop

Dear All
Just experienced the screen split with the right hand-side being black! Apparently something to do with the actual monitor drivers, so the answer was to unplug the power cable of the monitor and wait for 30 seconds, then plug it back up and it all worked! Not saying it will for everyone but it's worth a try. Good luck.
