I`m trying to bring my Samsung R530 Laptop right up to date. I`ve tried the official website, and posted my question, on Monday last week, and I`m still waiting to hear back from them.
I have also tried various Masters Degree computer expert websites, and they want to charge from between £30+vat, up to as high as £78+Vat.
My laptop currently runs an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, could I change it to an AMD Athalon Quad core, or any other type of processor?.
I thank you all kindly for any help and advice you could offer.

The CPU you are pretty much stuck with. About all you could do with it is get a faster core 2 duo, but that depends on what you have now as there may not be a faster one supported by the system or it wouldn't be fast enough to justify the cost. An SSD like the samsung 840 evo will fit into the system. The system max ram support is 8Gb(2x4Gb sticks).

No reason why it can't handle a 1Tb SSD, though at around £400 I'd prefer a new Laptop...Of course you could always install an SSHD Hybrid Drive (Seagate do a nice 1 Tb) which caches your most used files for fast boot/programme launch.
Laptops rarely allow for CPU upgrades, won't be supported in BIOS, and the cooling is designed for a certain wattage, invariably the more cores the greater the wattage and greater cooling required.

Before you dash out and buy 8Gb RAM perhaps Bignastyid will reveal the source of his info, as I find Offtek usually pretty accurate, and I couldn't find any mention of max RAM supported in the User Manual for your Laptop...Also, if he's right, ensure that you install the 64bit version of Windows as the 32 bit version won't support more than 4 Gb RAM...
