I have an HPE 210F with the AMD Athlon 785 chipset, 8GB RAM and a 1TB WD HDD. The motherboard has a built in RAID controller and the drive is RAID enabled.

I have am trying to improve the performance of the system by adding a 250GB Samsung SSD as the systems drive, currently without success. The 1TB HDD contains about 375GB of data but without pictures, music, videos and Apple backup files, my content comes down to a manageable 175GB.

I have tried cloning with the Samsung software. It fails after the clone with an error. [cloning failed, target disk has been disconnected -0000 ]
I also have Acronis but that is even less successful, so I have decided to bite the bullet and do a complete new Win 7 reload with all my other software.
Samsung support say that it could be something to do with a proprietary HP boot?

I would like to change my system from RAID to AHCI with the new reload, if that is possible. I would also like to know the best way to cause my picture data etc. to be loaded over to the HDD rather that the SSD. Should I set 'junction' commands or edit the 'config.sys'?

Any assistance will be much appreciated.
