Ah ok. I was going to say $150 would not be enough to upgrade both.

The best $250 will get you is an i5 4440 or i5 4570 and B85 motherboard. The i5 4570 is a particularly good deal at $189 right now, and you can get a B85 mobo for around $50-60. The i5 4440 is $179.

On the AMD side, you can get the FX 6300, an aftermarket cooler, and a 990FX motherboard for under $250. Or a FX8320 + 990FX motherboard for under $250 but no aftermarket cooler.

I believe the 4570 is very much worth the extra $10 over the 4440.
