Please bear with me; I am not the most hardware savvy guy.

I have a custom desktop that has been running fine for a couple years.
ASUS - M4A78T-E Board; BIOS: AMI 1302
I have had Two WD64001AALS drives in a RAID 1 configuration
This past week upon boot, RAID came up showing CRITICAL.
I downloaded RAIDXpert and found one of the drives was not functional.
I installed a new WD1003FZEX drive and using RAIDXpert I successfully rebuilt the drive (it said in logs).
In RAIDXpert it showed the RAID as working correctly.
Re-booted and got another CRITICAL message upon reboot.
Ran RAIDXpert again and it showed the new drive as IDLE and the RAID LD as CRITICAL.

I have been trying to find help locally (Phoenix) and after two days and many reboots I am still needing help or direction. I run RAIDXpert and now it shows the RAID LD as critical but now both physical drives as FUNCTIONAL with the new drive ready to be rebuilt.

I can rebuild the drive again but am not sure I wont be back in the same spot after rebuilding the last time.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Don't attempt another rebuild. You'll want to image the drive from the original RAID set and recover the data manually, then wipe both healthy drives, set up a fresh RAID1, reinstall your system, and transfer the data back to the array.

RAID is not backup. With a 640Gb consumer drive the base chance of something going wrong during a rebuild is still 5-6% so always keep a backup.

Thanks for the reply.
Almost as a last resort I decided to call ASUS to see if their tech support would actually lend a hand with this out of warranty mother board.
I did get an English speaking young guy (Hank) that spent almost an hour on the phone with me. He helped troubleshoot my desktop problem.
The problem was fixed by changing the new HDD to a new SATA port on the mother board; rebuilt the drive and all is working great.
