Sounds dumb, but will an ethernet switch solve my problem?

So I've got my pc hooked up to my only ethernet cable in my room, so whenever I choose to go on my Xbox I've got to unplug it from my pc and plug it into my Xbox. Bottom line is that I'm really lazy. So my question will an ethernet switch solve my problem? I've only got 1 cable coming up from my basement and I really don't want to have to wire it up where my room is. So will an ethernet switch take my one ethernet cord and split it into several? (I do understand that I will have to get my own ethernet cords to hook them up) I was thinking that this may work...http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704042... Thanks for the help! (No more than $20 please! I still need some for the cables!)

That's exactly what a switch is for. FWIW I've used a bunch of those TP-Link units and they've all been just fine. Just plug in your 3 cables into any of the ports and away-she-goes. No software config or setup required whatsoever.
