usb connection to expansion HD loose

The USB connection to my seagate expansion HD has come loose and won't connect can I dismantle it and resolder or whatever the plug to get the data of the HD???

sorry my wording is obviously ambiguous, what I mean is that the USB socket on the hard drive that the usb cord plugs into is loose, the cables are fine ( it wobbles up and down and sideways, another drive exactly the same is quite firm, I was just wondering if it is possible to fix or not by stripping of the case (How???) and if the socket which connects to the hardrive could possibly be resoldered or some such???
