I am building a new workstation for architectural visualization in 3ds max, and after many hours of searching the forums I still can't figure out the best cpu configuration would be...dual xeons e5-2620 v2 or the i7 4930k ? what i specifically want to know is if it's worth investing in a dual cpu configuration and if so, will it impact the single threaded processes? please help me with this problem. Thank you!

If gaming is not going to be the primary use, that 3D graphics and architectural work is what this will be used for, go with the Xeons: That is what they are meant for.
Also, consider a work station video card instead of a gaming card; yes they are more expensive. But again, they are designed for what you are doing. Either brand (Nvidia or AMD) will work. There is a huuuggggeee range of specs. and prices so do some research and talk some people who use similar equipment (not only on the forums but in real life face-to-face) to see what will work best for you.
