I've recently tried running linux (ubuntu) on my laptop through a portable USB drive and since then I feel as if my laptop has been loading slowly. I'm not sure if it is just cause I am imagining it, but the initial windows loading and start up feels slow. I could just be thinking its long since I've been on my desktop for so long and that is loading windows off an SSD.

I have an Asus n550jv that I downgraded from win 8 to win 7, I can post actual specs later if needed. Everything is stock on it.

Is it possible that I am just imagining the slowdown and there is really nothing wrong with it? is there anything I can do to try to speed it up? I've done scans on my computer and none of that seems to be an issue.

My vote goes with your imagination. If you installed a live linux on a usb then you changed absolutely nothing on your laptop.

Now the live Linux on the USB will be much slower than a hard drive install though. also, be careful if you plan on using the flash a lot. They aren't really designed for everyday OS use so always back your files elsewhere in the event the flash dies.
