I recently built my first ever pc and now the cpu is overheating lol. I have an athlon x4 750k and its around 70c when im just browsing web. What do you think the problem is? I'm reapplying some thermal paste when I come from school latter today to see if that fixes the problem

I had a similar problem with my a10 6800k. Most programs either read REALLY hot or didn't read at all. My bios never read over 40*c and the only program that seamed to give me a similar reading at load was open hardware monitor. It says its idling at well bellow room temperature, so idle isn't accurate. I think it is a problem with the FM2 cpu's.

If your cpu gets hot you should hear your cpu fan spool up (assuming you have one with variable speeds). Try playing a CPU intensive game and see if it spools up. If it does, you have a heat issue. If it doesn't, you are probably alright.

it sucks not being able to monitor, and if you wan't to overclock its simply unacceptable, but I haven't been able to find anything that will give a good...

Who said it was an ISSUE? Now you get one guy calling it that, and oh, yes, let's all jump on the stupid bandwagon and call it that!! God, I'm so damb sick of that word! Sorry I'm not adding to the solution here, but this overuse of it galls me, and it doesn't even mean what you think it does. I'm out.

Im having a similar problem.. running AMD A8 5600k.. hwmon says my idle temps are around 50.. it had even said once my max temp got to 192 C !!!! THERES NO WAY because my computer never shut down and the inside of my computer feels cool and breezy... I felt my heatsink it felt barely warm.. I felt the southbridge heatsink while comp on.. felt barely warm.. all my other temps are fine.. the max temp for my APU is 74 C ... when under 100% load hw mon says it reaches 90 c ..... wud have shut down if this was true
