I have just bought a new gaming computer from a friends brother and when I play games on it it runs great for about 20 minutes and then the fps goes from around 70 down to 15 and the graphics card heats up to 100 degrees and I have to restart my computer to stop the terrible frame rate. I think it is because of the power supply isn't strong enough but im not he greatest with computers, I have a 500 watt power supply in the computer at the moment and the guy who I bought it from said it was a 600 and I am thinking about upgrading to a 750 watt power supply because my brothers friend said that this rig needs at least a 750 watt power supply. I will post my computer specs below.

A 500W power supply is plenty to run a 7950. I've got a 7970 running on a 500W. Possibly, the PSU could be failing. The fact that you can play a game for about 20 minutes before it happens though makes me think otherwise. If the PSU was failing, it would probably happen as soon as it ramps up. How exactly is the temperature ramping up? Is it a steady incline until it hits 100? Or is it going along just fine then suddenly jumps?

I cleaned out the graphics card and it still ran very hot so I am getting someone to take off the thermal paste and put on some new thermal paste and he is going to run a diagnostic of my computer also so I will get back to you when that is done

I got my friend to replace the thermal paste but before he did that he stress tested it and it heated up to 105 degrees Celsius after he replaced the thermal paste it heated up to 100 degrees Celsius my friend said that the card is functioning fine other than it over heating so he told me to buy a after market or buy a new graphics card so I am going to buy a new cooler and see if that helps.

and it is not over clocked it runs at stock speeds and I don't know the core speed, memory speed, and voltage while gaming because I don't have the card right now because my friend is trying to fix it.
