I have M5A97 motherboard and AMD Phenom II X6 1055t which is currently running at stock speed-2.8ghz. I'm using stock cooler. My default voltage was around 1.400v's and i dropped it to 1.250v. Temperature really decreased after this tweak, i ran prime95, played Crysis 3, Battlefield without any issues. I also set NB frequency and it's 1.125 now. Everything works perfect, i run games at 45-46c if they're not huge system depended games like Crysis 3. At stock voltages, i even saw 60-65c in Crysis 3. Max temp in Crysis after my voltage tweak was 51c which is awesome for me in my opinion.

My question is, should i decrease voltages a bit for better cooling ? I have to use stock cooler for a while and my strategy is"stock speeds, cooler and stable" so i need suggestions.

NOTE : I have Thermaltake V3 case which supports 120mm fans, i have 2 front intake, 1 bottom intake, 1 side intake, 2 top exhaust, 1 back exhaust fans (Cooler Master BC120). I think my fan setup is okay for my case, but i'm not sure about 2 top exhaust fans. some people just set one intake one exhaust for top, however i'm happy with my current system setup.

lowering voltages further to see how much lower you can get won't hurt the cpu in any way. so yes, you can try even lower until it gets unstable

or based on what you found so far you can just continue to use it at 1.250V

lowering voltages will never damage a cpu only increasing them can do that.

Oh man, 1.200v looks stable too !!! However, anything below 1.200v resulted with BSOD in prime95. Looks like i'll use 1.200v for 2.8ghz, i'll test NB Voltage and let you know.

EDIT : I'm still running prime95 and 2 chrome tabs are open, stock fan is 3600 rpm (silent mode) and temperature is 53-54c.
