Occasional lack of video signal - new build

I'm wondering what could cause my new PC build to occasionally start up with no video signal. The video card is a GTX 770. The first one I installed died after a few hours, and EVGA confirmed it was defective and sent a replacement. After putting in the new card, every other time I would turn on the PC there would be no video signal. When that happened I'd move the card to the second PCI slot, and the signal would be back. Then eventually I'd move the card back into the first slot and it would work fine for a while.

Recently it had been starting up and running fine for about 10 days, but today I got the no signal problem again.

I've tried re-seating my RAM, reconnecting all the power cables, updating the video card drivers, checking the PSU voltages in BIOS (not very accurate, I know).

I have an RMA open for the motherboard because I thought it might be a defective PCIe slot, but I'm not sure they'll find a problem with it since it comes up randomly. Does anyone have any suggestions? What would cause an occasional problem like this?
