Hi forum,

We are looking to upgrade our router from an old Netgear-G to a Netgear AC dual band. The two items that we own that could benefit from the AC are the desktop and laptop. The desktop has a dongle that can be upgraded to accept AC. But, the laptop is a little older and has built in WiFi.

So, if you attach a USB wireless AC compatible dongle will it run on this "AC" or will the internal WiFi of the laptop force it to connect on N?

Thanks!

Yes, if you plug in your dongle to your laptop and connect to the WiFi via dongle, The wireless functions built in your laptop will no longer be in use, so the connection you will get is input connection of AC!!!! :)
