CPU running hot

I noticed my phenom II x6 1090t was running between 55-70 C at all times so I haven't touched my computer. I order a 212 evo fan and some new thermal paste. Are there any other things/tips I should know/check when I replace the fan? Should I take the cpu out and reseat it or just make sure the fan is secured on?

you can clean the old paste and dust better if you take the cpu out when you change the fans, so yes, take it out.
be very careful if the cpu is stuck on the old heatsink, it can get stuck sometimes.
