So my system got accidentally plugged out yesterday. Plugged it back in right after it happened and tried turning it on, but to no avail. Completely nothing happened when I pressed the power button and I suspected I had fried the PSU or something. Opened up the case, everything was plugged in correctly etc (as it should, because just the power plug was pulled out). Afterwards I unplugged the computer from electricity and went to bed, planning to test if the PSU or power button is not working in the morning. Got up the next morning, tried turning it on and everything worked. Is it safe to assume that everything's fine?

Probably OK. It is quite common for a PSU to need a short timeout after sudden power loss.
