Hi Guys,

So I know for a fact that the 760 is the better choice than the 270x but looking through the graphics card category of a certain shop here in the Philippines, I found a great variance with the GTX 760 ranging from $275 to $355. On the other hand, the OCed version of the R9 270x from MSI cost around $255.

Is the performance difference of the stock GTX 760 vs the OCed R9 270x going to be big so much so that the extra $20 is worth it?

Here are the links to the cards I was referring to

GTX 760 : http://pcx.com.ph/index.php/components/graphics-card/inno3d-gtx760-2gb-gddr5-256bit.html

MSI R9 270x : http://pcx.com.ph/index.php/components/graphics-card/msi-amd-r9-270x-2g-bf4.html

P.S. im going to buy an FX-6300 so Im not so sure if there s a cross platform advantage but adding the info just in case :)

Thanks in advance!

Solution
The 6300 will perform the same with the 270x and 760, so the CPU doesn't change anything.

I would go with the overclocked MSI 270x over the reference 760. It'll be cooler and quieter. And the 760 really isn't that much better than the 270x, especially if there is a large price gap.

I was actually thinking the same thing.. apart from the aesthetical advantage of the 270x, I figured that the OCed version would somehow make up for what is lacking when faced against the reference GTX 760. I wonder if anyone else thinks otherwise. I have another 2 days to decide before I go to the store and make the purchase.

Hi, hitechobsessed,

You mentioned price difference.... if the price difference between the OCed 270x and the reference 760 is around $20..would you then go with the 760?

Not for the reference design, no. If the MSI 760 Gaming (same type as their 270x you're looking at) was only $20 more I would, but I don't like the reference design unless you need the blower-style fan for your case.

In most games, the 270x and 760 are within just a few fps of each other, and there are even a couple where it's better.
