when i detach the cd rom cable from mobo it does not boot. i am not able to identify the problem. i dont want to attach a cd rom to the pc. anyone have any idea?

after unplugging the cdrom make sure your HDD is being recognized at BIOS, perhaps when you disconnect it you are moving without noticing the HDD cable too?

Also, are your cables SATA or IDE?

If IDE make sure your HDD has it's jumpers set to Master instead of Slave.

hdd is properly recognized in bios setting. i did as you said like setting of jumper, but the hdd is already set as ide channel 0 master. but without cd rom it is not booting up. it performs all the self tests. but after performing tests it fails to load windows. one more thing, it needs only sata cd rom. my hdd is ide. when i attached ide cd rom. it did not worked.
