Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: this week (the closer the better)

Budget Range: $500 after rebates

System Usage: Gaming

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade: CPU, and Video Card (And a motherboard that will work with whatever I get)
Parts I am re-using: Rosewill FORTRESS-750 750W Continuous @50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS PLATINUM, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire Ready, Active PFC Power Supply
12 GB DDR3 RAM

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Always used Newegg, but not picky

Location: Lewiston, ME

Parts Preferences: I've always used AMD in the past, but that was mostly because that's what people suggested at the time.

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

Your Monitor Resolution: Using a DYNEX TV, Native resolution is 1360x768, can go up to 1920x1080

Additional Comments: I play a lot of minecraft, and also like to play games like Skyrim with lots of mods installed.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: I've noticed recently that my games are running really slow, capping out at 20 FPS, and slowing down even more while actually active. In a previous thread some members of the community suggested upgrading my CPU and video card, saying they are a bit old and could be dieing.

Edit: forgot to include budget, which is $500 after rebates

you'd probably want to go with an fx6300 and an msi-970a mobo and an r9 270 or 270x for your gpu

Okay, one last thing then. I am going with the MSI Radeon R9 270X GAMING 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card And I want to make sure I have enough room in my case. I currently have my old Antec 900 from the first computer I built back in high school and I have just been re-using it. However with my last build the Radeon HD 5830 barely fit in the case. Should I look at getting a new case or will my current one be fine? and if I should get a new case any suggestions?

it'll definitely fit in your case but just one thing if you're only gaming on one monitor the 4gbs of vram is useless in that 270x i would suggest saving some money and getting just 2gbs of vram unless you're planning on using eyefinity in the future

but then again i personally dont think the r9 270x even when using eyefinity will be able to fully utilize 4gbs of vram simply because it's not strong enough of a card

you will be very happy with 2gbs of vram on the 270x if you're only gaming on one monitor GOOD LUCK!

The 2gb ones that were well rated were the same price or 10$ cheaper, so I decided might as well go with the 4GB.
