Monitor stuck in sleep-mode after installing new graphics card?

It all started this morning when I brought my new ASUS GTX 660 along with my power supply (550 watts) home. I successfully installed the power supply, and tested to see if it worked. It worked fine. Then, I attempted to install my 660. The installation went well, but it didn't work.

I did everything right, as far as I can see. I removed the old one, plugged it into the PCIE slot, and plugged the power cable into it. When I tried to boot up my pc, the pc it-self worked fine. However, the monitor was stuck in sleep.

I opened up the side panel and all of my fans were working, and a green light was on inside. There were no unusual noises, and from the sounds of it, it started up normally. However, my monitor was still in sleep, even after shaking the mouse around. My mouse was on, and everything was working fine, except for my monitor. The blue light keep blinking, but it never turned on.

I have no idea what I did wrong, and would seriously appreciate help.

I didn't see where you uninstalled the old drivers?
What was the old video?
Was it AMD, by any chance?

And no, I did not remove the old drivers.
The old one was labeled as "Intel HD Graphics" by Speccy.

Also what motherboard?

What version is the PCI-e slot?

If it is 1.0, you may be out of luck.

I can't really find what PCI-version I have..

EDIT: Almost 100% sure I have a 3.0 slot, because I have a x16 slot.

Model is recent enough.
For integrated graphics, there is no need to uninstall drivers.
Card should work.
Do you see anything on the screen(from pressing the power button)?
Also what's your power supply?

It can't be.
If you removed something from the slot in which you installed your 660, it's not Intel.
The slot has to be empty.

It doesn't say, but as new as it looks, it is probably PCI-e 2.0 or better.
You should be OK .

It dose however have Intel graphics, unless it was upgrades to a dedicated card.

Either you have to uninstall the video drivers, or there is a setting in your BIOS, that disables the on-board, and activates the dedicated.

The 660 or any card will run with no drivers, but won't run with the wrong drivers.
They revert to standard VGA drivers.
Once you get it running on VGA drivers, you install the proper drivers.

And it seems that the card works fine, it's just that the monitor will not come out of sleep.

Oh, yes, I also forgot that this is my first time replacing components on my PC.
I do not know a lot about PC components, (ex. BIOS), so I would appreciate it if you talked to me with stuff that I could understand a little more easily.

It won't if there's no signal.
It's a problem with the card, not the monitor; especially if the monitor worked fine before.

I'm not sure.
It was just an integrated intel one, I think.

As I said before, if you can remove it, it can NOT be integrated; integrated is soldered on the motherboard and is not removable. Try putting in the old card and running GPU-Z to find out which one it is.

If the monitor isn't turning on, how would you have any Idea if the card works???????
The fan running is meaningless.
The monitor isn't sleeping, it isn't turning on, because the video card isn't telling it to.

I can talk to with stuff you understand, but that wont fix your computer.
We try not to talk down to people til we know what you know.

When you first start your computer, you should get a message at the bottom, telling you what to push to enter setup (BIOS).

On a Gateway it is usually F2.
You have to press F2 in the first few seconds or the boot.

I cant tell you where it is, you will have to look at all the setting.
My older gateway has no such setting, it is automatic, so your may also be auto.

This bring us back to uninstalling the old video drivers.

Yes you shouldn't have to uninstall on board drivers, but I have seen AMD on-board interfere with Nvidia card in rare instances.

But we now know it is Intel on-board.

What card did you take out.

Did you plug in the PCI-e aux power connectors?

It runs fine with the old card..
I'm going to troubleshoot the drivers with the old card.

You can't troubleshoot the drivers with the old card.
You can't install the new drivers unless the new card is running, and showing up on the screen .

You are very vague.
We still have no idea if you only have on-board. or a dedicated card.
I can't help til I know.

It's not integrated as it can be removed.
Depending on which card it is it may not POST with the new card installed.
In any case, he has to uninstall all graphics drivers with the old card installed and then only put the new card in.
