I have a Samsung SSD 840 series. Suddently it has become so slow at starting all the programs after booting the computer. Programs like spotify and my wireless internet software.

I recently plugged the it out of the wall.. Maybe that's why? I use to turn the PSU off on the back of the computer, before i disconnect it.

Help ?!?!

Hi there,
I had the exact same issue as you after turning the computer off at the PSU many times, to fix this you need to recharge the CMOS battery, this would lower the clock speed of you CPU resulting in slow boot times and programs loading.
To check if this is the case first Click CTRL+ALT+DEL and open task manager.
Go onto performance...
Is the cpu not going very high on the graph and not reaching its full potential? or is the clock speed running low?
if so just leave the computer on for about 2-3 hours running and just leave it, it should recharge the cmos battery

Right next well check the SSD Performance.
Click "My computer"
And then right click on the hard drive and click "Properties"
Then Click the "Tools" tab and then Under "error checking" click "Check now"
follow the guide and see if that picked up any errors on the C drive.
If that doesn't work try going to:
Click "My computer"
And then right click on the hard drive and click "Properties"
Then Click the "Tools" tab and then Under "Optimise and defragment drive"
And click "Optimize"

Lets try draining the cmos battery... are you comfortable with going inside your computer?
If so then on your motherboard look for a silver circle, pull this out and leave to drain on the side for 1-2 hours and plug in afterwards

My motherboard doesn't have a CMOS battery, but suddenly the SDD has begun to boot the programs much faster as before. I don't know what happened, but it the 2nd. time it has worked, so i'm hoping it's finally over.

I appreciate your help.

Thanks!

Hi there, all motherboards have a CMOS battery but some are just hidden away from users.
But it seems to me that the CMOS may not be the culprit...
What motherboard do you have? or computer model?
Also what OS are you using as we may be able to tweak some settings in the bios.
But also check that the CPU and main power supply cables are plugged into the motherboard securely as this can cause unstable performance and can cause the performance to decrease, if possible you could try disconnecting them and reconnecting them to the motherboard.
They are located as shown in this diagram:

Hope this helps.
