Hello,

I built a PC. Installed windows 7 and began configuring windows 7 without issues. the machine booted correctly several times. At this point I forgot that I didn't configure raid in BIOS. I configured raid... After that, windows won't start. It keeps going into startup repair and won't repair. What is the best approach to fixing this issue?

I tried to reboot off of the DVD drive with the windows disk in hopes that I could reinstall. Didn't work. Did the same thing... Went into repair and couldn't repair.

Have you tried swapping the cables on the 2 drives? When you try to set RAID 1 after the fact the computer BIOS will pick one of the drives as primary and one as backup. It may have selected the drive you installed to as backup. The problem is, if it did, it may have replicated the blank disk to the good disk. But you can swap the disk around and see. Always remember to set up your RAID beforhand. If you swap it and you can not get it to work I would put it back like it was originally and take off raid to see if your operating system is still there.

I'll try that now...

To be clear I have 3 hard drives... A primary drive with the OS, not RAID. Then 2 platter drives with RAID 1.

Is it advisable to reformat the primary HD, the one with the OS, a SSD, and start over?
