I'm piecing together a new build and trying to find what I should go with for a PSU.

I will be using it for games and will likely be overclocking some.

My expected set-up:
Motherboard: Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z
CPU: AMD FX-8350 or 9370
GPU: GTX 770 or 780
Memory: 2x4gb G.Skill Ripsaw 1866
Storage: WD 500gb, Samsung 840 Pro 128gb
Additional: Corsair H700i, LG bluray drive.

I will likely eventually have 780 sli in the future but may start off with just a 770 for the first year or so. The same goes with CPU, depends how much money I can spare at the time but I will end up swapping it for a 9XXX at some point.

I have had my eye on a couple different PSU including the Corsair AX860i and seasonic platinum 860w. However I recently saw an OCZ 1250w on sale for 185 shipped. Now I realize 1250 would be way overkill but if I'm picking one up for such a low price is it worth it? If not what would you suggest, these horror stories of people frying all their parts with a PSU kinda has me worried for my first build :/

This OCZ PSU was made after 2007 when OCZ bought the respectable 'PC Power and Cooling' and so it is a decent unit. However it does not have MOV to prevent power surge from the grid from something like lightning. To be safe over 1000W look at EVGA 's Supernova series.

It depends on what model of OCZ PSU it is as some are decent while others are not so good, look up reviews on the exact model. If you can get the 1250W at the same price and it is reliable then go for it as it will be future proof and generate less heat.
