Hello,

I'm trying to make a NAS from my previous gaming pc. I've put ZFSguru(which is build on FreeBSD) on an USB-stick. So this I will use as OS for my fileserver.

Now my question is: can I use that same server to host an IIS server or something equivalent that supports PHP AND ASP (afaik Apache only supports PHP).

I was thinking about virtualization of both the servers, but I don't know much about that and I am afraid that this is bad for the performance of the server (the fileserver should be fast enough to stream HD movies sized at 15gb+- each).

Anyone that can point me in the right direction? I don't mind reading up about something that can help me.

Thanks in advance,
nfdevil

Zfsguru is built on freebsd, so I would assume you could do that.

Probably you should ask in the zfsguru forums if you have specific questions regarding their distribution

Regarding virtualization, with good virtualization setup (bare metal) like KVM there is no performance impact. Besides file server is primary io Dependant and not CPU!

You might run without virtualization. Mono Project provides some (not full) support for .ASP under Apache, so it might be worth checking out.
