What do I need to do to this system to make it insane and score high on benchmarks. I did unigen heaven 4.0 and only got 1800

Hello experts,

I have a system that is running a P8P67 Deluxe motherboard with an i7 2600k turbo clocked to only 4.0 ghz.

32 gig of 1600 mhz ram / 2 gtx 680 SC cards in sli / windows 7 pro / all drivers are updated and there is no bloatware.

2x256 gig SSD drives. A samsung and a ocz.

I ran unigen heaven 4 the other day and I only scored 1800. I had unigene on the extreme setting but still....i was surprised and thought it was low.

Is it my processor that is the problem? Is it really that slow at 4ghz?

What can I do to make this machine really scream....but still maintain stability and a decent lifespan?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I'm not hugely helpful with regard to your card as I mostly only do 2d benchmarking but you have the right idea. OC'er always find more headroom :) and tweak and tweak. Getting higher scores is often about persistence and information, the more you know the more flexibility you'll discover. The top one for a two card config above was set a cpu 4800 ram at 2666 and the gpu was 1261 clock and 1952 memory and the cards where water cooled.

By all means post success Cheers Rick3d

Hello...thanks for responding. Both cards are running at stock overclock speeds. The machine works great but that seems slow....evga precision and the inspector show no issues. Are the signature sc cards not fast enough at stock?

Perhaps the thing to keep in mind is scores are always relative. I had a quick look see what the scores were for the GTX 680 and the top scores at HWBot for one card is around the 2800 marks, two cards the wr is 5001 however the site is updating so I can't give you more info on the 2 card wr for now anyway. Those top ones are seriously OC'ed on all fronts (Ram CPU GPU).

Improving it is going to involve manually OCing the cards and unless you already know all the underlying criterion's some research would be good advice.

I see. Good advice.

Those scores in unigen are they really overclocking an already overclocked card? I mean how much headroom would you really have? The gaming off of these cards is incredible....but low scores in unigen....I will try to find more info as to why. Maybe I will post a report of the specs and timings of everything in my machine. Thanks again
