Hi.

I live in a place where i share WiFi with the landlord. But the reception in the basement is pretty low. So what we did, we purchased a second WiFi Router and hooked it up to the ISP provided WiFi Router.

The Router that came with the ISP is a VoIP WiFi Router with 4 LAN ports. ( VoIP Router FG101R2 (Fiber connected) ) We hooked it up to a Netgear Router WNR2200 (Lan to Lan).

It works great, the Netgear essentially just extends the WiFi by using its WiFi capabilities.
Two SSIDs. They are on the same subnet too, and DHCP is switched off on the Netgear.

How ever, i can not seem to figure out how to open up ports to run services like HTTPD on my machine. I have been reading my eyes out, but i just can not figure it out. I am suspecting i am missing some thing fundamental.
I have tried NAT, and DMZ, but no cowbell.

SSID 1 ISP Router Lan Port <-----CAT5-----> SSID 2 Netgear Lan Port

If any one can help shed some light on the issue, i would be very grateful.

Thanks.

You are mapping the ports on the main ISP router or on the netgear. It should be pretty standard port mapping on the ISP device but I can say on the details.

If you are trying to do it on the netgear it is a waste of time. All those settings are related to the device being a router and passing traffic from wan-lan. The traffic never passes thought the wan port and therefore all those options do nothing.

You of course want to leave it cabled exactly as you have it and any changes need to be made on the main router.

Yes, on the ISP router is where i have been trying to apply NAT rules. It is as you say a pretty simple self explanatory way to do it. But yeah, it just wont work.

Could there perhaps be some kind of a firewall function that is still operating on the Netgear LAN port?
