GTX 760 or HD 7950

I've been watching videos for days and I found out that AMD HD 7950 has better results over GTX 760. I'm planning of upgrading my GTX 550Ti that was destroyed by my brother by throwing a plastic glass over it. Which is better? And will these two cards bottleneck my CPU which is core i3 540?

My system spec is:
CPU: core i3 540
Mobo: MSI h55m - e23
PSU: 600W
RAM: 4 GB Kingston 1333MHz

The update of HD7950 is now the R9 280, non X version.
I would recommend this over GTX 760 only if the price is close to the MSRP (original price) of it as litecoin miners may have inflated. If in your area are not affected by this, go ahead an purchase the R9 280. The gtx 760 is not far behind in some games and if you're interested in PhysX at all than that's your choice. If you're a big BF4 fan than AMD is the ONLY option as Mantle will help your i3 bottleneck a lot.
