Maxtor 1 touch 4 mini corrupt files

On my Maxtor 1 touch 4 mini i copied lots of photos from my computer to the hard disk drive, i made sure they were there and left it be for a while, checked it to use the photos and it says those specific files/ folders are corrupt or un-readable.
