Would it make a big difference to crossfire my amd a8 CPU with a radeon HD 6870 than using it with a geforce gtx660?

You can't use dual graphics (What AMD calls combining a gfx card with the on-die GPU) with an HD 6870. Besides, the GTX 660 will be faster anyway.

Crossfire with the APU isn't worth considering once you move beyond entry level cards, it often does more harm than good.

So any compatible radeon HD gpu with crossfire will be slower than the gtx660. How odd :D  this answers my question! Thank you

An APU like your A8 has a low end on-die GPU along with its CPU. But the only discrete gfx cards that will work in Dual Graphic mode with it, are like-power gfx cards. Two of them is still no match for a powerful discrete card like the GTX 660.

Interesting. I thought the hybrid crossfire thing would work with more powerful discrete gpu's

Quite educative thank you. By the way, my windows phone won't let me hit the "resolved" button but you can mark this thread as resolved. Have a nice day!
