I want to replace my current cpu cooler, which is the stock AMD one for the 8320fx. Any suggestions on which one to get because there is currently nothing that I prefer but my price range caps out at around $100.

■Case: Corsair carbide 330R
■Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2
■RAM: G-Skill F3-10600CL9S-8GBNT
■Graphics card: Gigabyte 650ti 2gb OC
■CPU: AMD 8320fx
■Power supply: Corsair VS550

I don't plan to overclock

If you don't plan to overclock, you will just be wasting your money. For use without overclocking, the stock cooler is more than sufficient.

Hi and thanks everyone for the quick replies. I guess I wanted to replace because of the noise I get, it spins at around 5k rpm to keep the CPU and 30 degrees Celsius and it is still audible through my headphones. But I will consider the other suggestions, but I am not sure if they will fit or not and I am also concerned I will screw up installing a new CPU cooler (I am pretty noob)

I went back over your thread and started thinking of your problem, along with it's circumstance........

Even though you don't need another cooler, you have expressed a desire for quietness. The CPU cooler that I am going to post a link to at the bottom of my post is one of, if not the best CPU cooler manufacturers out there. The company is Noctua. They make many models, but this one is designed for quietness. Take a look, read some reviews and then you can decide if it's worth the price or not. Let me know what you decide. I know you're a bit nervous about changing out a cooler, but I can guide you through it with no problem. It's easy enough. :)

There are many options for quietness like the be quiet ones, noctua and thermalright makes quiet ones too,a more specific one from another brand being the xigmatek gaia for lower budget or even the next ones,

PCPartPicker part list

CPU Cooler: Zalman CNPS10X Performa CPU Cooler ($24.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Zalman CNPS10X OPTIMA CPU Cooler ($24.99 @ Mwave)
Total: $49.98
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

The performa has a resistor cable which makes it quieter it gives a max at the rpm's it makes.I have it and it's actually pretty quiet with that and one with which you could still overclock decently.

For other options below $50,

PCPartPicker part list

CPU Cooler: Xigmatek GAIA SD1283 56.3 CFM CPU Cooler ($36.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Xigmatek Prime SD1484 90.3 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($39.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Be Quiet Shadow Rock 2 87.0 CFM Rifle Bearing CPU Cooler ($49.99 @ NCIX US)
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Macho Rev.A. 73.6 CFM CPU Cooler ($49.90 @ Amazon) (also have this one and very quiet too=just above 160mm though, keep an eye on that in combination with your case.)
Total: $176.87

Just read some reviews about the ones that you like. It's the best way to get to know them and look at things like sound properties and mounting issues.

I admit I am the type of person who looks at pictures but the nh-d14, judging from reviews I have read and installation videos etc, it does seem a worthwhile product. It should also fit on my motherboard looking at Noctua's compatibility list. It should fit in my case.... haven't really measured anything

Looked again at the thread and saw the "not overclocking".Fot that you don't really need such an expensive cooler, the hyper 212 evo or 212X and even the Thermaltake CLP0606 NiC should do fine. From what i read are the last two also considerably quiet. Both are also under $50.

Even the next probaly would already be enough,

also look at the sound properties. It's quite silent.A nice cooler for just $19.
